"Unless someone like You cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not" - The Lorax

Our shirts are made from Organic & Sustainable Hemp. We really wanted to find a fabric that could change the way things have been made and how it could affect our planet in a positive way. Hemp was the answer we we’re looking for. Hemp does not require much water to grow and can withstand harsh growing seasons. Their stalks are thick and hard to penetrate so bugs don’t like them, and since hemp grows fast and dense, it leaves no room for weeds to permeate the soil. Its cultivation does not exhaust but rather continuously fertilizes the soil by shedding its leaves throughout its growing period. In this way, it actually returns nutrients to the soil, helping to reduce the energy demand on the earth. It grows without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers which makes Hemp the ultimate sustainable resource! Ugly fact: Non-organic cotton farming alone generates more than 50% of all water and air pollution yearly.

Our luxurious Hemp fabric is extremely soft with a superior durability seldom found in other materials. The fiber “breathes” and is more insulative than cotton. This means that hemp will keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Hemp is more effective at blocking the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. The nature of the hemp fibers makes them more absorbent which means that Hemp material is less prone to fading than cotton fabrics are. It is moth resistant and is more suitable to people with chemical sensitivities.

For those left in the world who are unaware of this plain fact: Hemp is not the same plant as the medicinal cannabis or the Marijuana plant. They are very similar looking and part of the same plant family, but the fibers used in our shirts and products are 100% organically grown industrial hemp stalk which is used for textiles or food only, so they carry none of the properties found in other species. Industrial hemp planting and harvesting actually dates back almost 10,000 years and was one of the most popular and versatile crops in the United States until policy reforms came underway in the late 1930s. We encourage you to read more about this AMAZING earth-changing plant and it’s many incredible abilities, history and its benefits.

    Hemp is Hip not Hippie.

Our Baby Onesies & Swaddle Blankets are made from Organic Bamboo

Bamboo is a renewable, sustainable resource. It is the fastest growing woody plant in the world and does not need to be irrigated, making its water-use efficiency more than twice that of trees. Compare that to cotton, which is the largest user of water among agricultural commodities (it can take up to 20,000 liters of water to produce only 1 kilogram of cotton). Bamboo grows without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. Bamboo is actually a tropical grass naturally replenishing itself and re-harvested without damage to soil the surrounding environment. It minimizes carbon dioxide emissions and generates up to 35% more oxygen than equivalent stands of trees. Both the bamboo and cotton we use for our goods are grown and harvested on family owned farms that have been in agricultural use for generations and none come from tropical forests.

Our luxurious Bamboo fabric is extremely soft with a superior durability seldom found in other materials. It is naturally anti-bacterial and anti-fungal because of a unique bacteriostatic agent unique to bamboo plants. This agent “bamboo Kun” in bamboo fabrics stop odor-producing bacteria from growing & spreading allowing the apparel to be more hygienic and to remain fresher smelling. Bamboo is highly absorbent and wicks water away from body 3-4 times faster than cotton. In warm, humid and sweaty weather, bamboo clothing helps keep the wearer drier, cooler and more comfortable and doesn’t stick to the skin. The structure of the fibers also make bamboo more breathable and thermal regulating than cotton, wool or synthetic fabrics.

Creating viscose from bamboo does involve chemicals, however bamboo processing is closed-circuit, which means that all solvents and wastes are caught and can be disposed of without any sort of run off into water supplies.

    Who’s making Our stuff?

Petit Punch t-shirts are manufactured in Los Angeles, CA by non-sweatshop workers.

Our baby items are all manufactured and sewn by a small company in Andrews, South Carolina, USA (once the capitol of t-shirt manufacturing in the world) who believes in supporting sustainability, recycling, and sweatshop free production. Many of the workers there are second to 3rd generation sewers who take great pride in their work. Striving to improve the lives of Americans, they continue to provide jobs in South Carolina.
